The Lempäälä welfare and vitality committee will address several significant proposals for residents at its May meeting. A decision is proposed regarding the pricing of the new sports hall at Saikkantalo and the gym at Hakkari when the facilities are completed in August. Additionally, the 2025 welfare report is proposed for approval, which shows that Lempäälä has performed so well in welfare work that the municipality will receive an additional state subsidy of 588,500 euros. The transfer of outreach youth work to youth services starting in August will also be addressed.

The Lempäälä municipal council will address in its April 22 meeting a controversial proposal for new fee structures, where the municipality proposes charging fees also for exemption applications under the Water Services Act. Additionally, the council will consider a substantial 95,000 euro additional investment in early youth work, the need for which has emerged from the increase in minor problems among elementary school-age children in different parts of the municipality.

Lempäälä's welfare and vitality committee will address in its meeting on March 19 an extensive welfare program for 2026-2029, which defines the municipality's measures to combat inequality, loneliness and insecurity. Additionally, a proposal is presented to convert the Halkola property into a youth facility, where various youth activities would be centralized from motor workshop to youth council meetings.

The Health and Vitality Committee will address several significant proposals at its meeting on February 19, 2026. A 500,000 euro annual service purchase agreement for five years is proposed for Lempäälä swimming hall. Expanding early youth work for 10-13-year-olds would require additional funding of 95,000 euros and two new employees. Additionally, consideration is being given to relocating the community space to Lempäälä-talo instead of the current Hakkarin kartano.

Mental health problems among young people in Lempäälä rose alarmingly in the school health survey - 34% of upper secondary school girls suffer from anxiety and 10% of children are left without close friends. At the same time, the municipality must tighten its belt: education and training services need an additional 912,500 euros this year due to, among other things, legislative changes in learning support and increasing substitute costs.
