Extensive welfare program defines the municipality's direction for 2026-2029

The committee proposes to the council for approval the municipality's new welfare program, which addresses the welfare challenges of Lempäälä residents. The program identifies as key problems inequality and welfare disparities, loneliness, experiences of insecurity, mental health challenges and physical inactivity. The focus areas are meaningful everyday life, safe environment and health-promoting lifestyles.

Halkola property to be converted into a youth "mega center"

In the city center area, it is proposed to establish Nuorten Halkola activity center, which would combine several youth services. The facility would house youth center, youth council, cultural work, study and work-life coaching as well as even motor workshop activities. Open youth center activities would begin as early as May 2026.

Library open on Saturdays during summer

The main library will be open during summer 2026 also on Saturdays due to Lempäälä's 160th anniversary celebrations and Housing Fair. Sääksjärvi and Kuljun local libraries will switch to summer hours in June-August.

Unemployment in Lempäälä below regional average

The unemployment rate in Lempäälä is 9.2 percent, while in the entire Pirkanmaa region it is 13.4 percent. There are a total of 1,161 unemployed, of which 446 are long-term unemployed.
