Massive Marjamäki development project advances

It is proposed for approval in Lempäälä to accept the partial master plan for the southern part of Marjamäki, which would dramatically transform the area. Around Ideapark, it is intended to build a completely new sub-center for approximately 4,000 residents - currently only 150 people live in the area. It is proposed to increase the dimensioning of daily goods retail to 6,000 square meters.

Closed prison coming next to Hulikankulma

The zoning solution reserves an area for the state's planned new closed prison next to Hulikankulma. The prison is estimated to bring 100 jobs in the first phase and eventually 400 jobs. The plan would enable a total of approximately 2,800 new jobs in the area.

Major real estate reorganization

It is proposed for approval to update the real estate and facility program, which divides the municipality's properties into three groups: those to be retained, developed, and sold/demolished. Operations at Pirha have ceased at Lempäälä House in Pikkuketu, and the downtown youth center activities will move to the wooden building in Halkola.

New fees for environmental matters

It is proposed to introduce new fees for processing exemption applications under the Water Services Act. In the future, the municipality could charge a fee for applications where a property seeks exemption from the obligation to connect to water utility networks.

Advocacy plan for approval

It is proposed for approval the municipality's advocacy plan for 2026-2029, where key objectives include the rerouting of Highway 3, relocation of the Tampere marshalling yard, and preparing for the effects of rail reform.
